M.I.A. recently posted a new track on her Twitter, the track was quickly written and recorded as an angry response to a New York Times story. The Times published an article called “The 31 Places to Go in 2010” that ranked Sri Lanka with the number one hotspot.

MI.A., whose family has Sir Lankana Tamil roots, lashed out at the newspaper via Twitter, countering NYT’s photographs of “scenic” Sri Lanka with images that show children liberally torn apart by the country’s civil war between the Tamil and the Sinhalese government, tweeting “F**K NEW YORK TIMES! DO YOU THINK YOU NEED TO GO HERE ON VACATION?”

M.I.A. is known not only for her talent and musical creativity, but also for her political content and occasionally outspoken opinions.
